Rosemary Wagstaff painted her first original personalised name picture for her first granddaughter over 15 years ago. Rosemary found inspiration for the picture from flowers and foliage that were blooming at the time of Eve’s birth in October. Whilst always having an artistic talent she only started studying floral water colour painting in seriously after the death of her beloved husband Michael in 1991.
Each painting required hours of research and planning before she could even put paint brush to paper and in the early stages Rosemary only gave her artworks to family and close friends. However, soon her reputation grew and in no time she was receiving commissions from people the length and breadth of the country. Although Rosemary's passion is still painting original pictures, what started out as a pleasure soon became a lot less enjoyable as the backlog of commissions grew. Encouraged by her daughter Caroline Wagstaff (award winning inventor and Dragons’ Den participant, who already had an online business selling back lotion applicators and back scratchers), Rosemary began painting today’s collection of letters in 2006. Each letter was painted together with a flower or plant beginning with the corresponding letter (e.g. Poppy in a P, Orchid in an O and so on) and Rosemary ended up creating just under one hundred images of flowers and letters as well as insects, butterflies, plants and small animals that inhabit the world between the letters. To receive a recording of Rosemary and Caroline talking about getting this project off the ground, simply tick the appropriate box on the order form. This, Words of ART’s first collection, has been inspired from the gardens and hedgerows near Rosemary’s Forest of Dean home in England and the combination of letters and flowers together create a truly unique and inspiring personalised gift idea. There are absolutely no other products on the market today to match the originality and quality of these artworks, which are destined to be family heirlooms. It goes without saying that none of our images are computer generated. Words of ART believe in supporting local businesses and keeping their carbon footprint as low as possible. Therefore all aspects of production are personally managed by Caroline and her team of expert local printers and framers. Click the image below to see Caroline on Dragons' Den. |
